For these cinemagraphs I had to shrink them down in order for them to properly work. In the first one only the light on the pc is flashing while nothing else moves. In the second one only the water coming from the water fountain is moving while everything, even his formerly swaying earbuds, are still. I had no reason for this choice of subject if I'm being honest. I simply created them from the objects and people around, showing how easy it can be with just a camera and everyday objects. A for the meaning it would reflect how some days at school the day goes by so slow its like it takes and hour to take a drink of water, or reading a book of economics in computer class. The most difficult thing I found was getting them to work on the blog. It took a lot of resizing and alteration to make it work. If I were to give anyone advice I would say persistence is key. Your first one may not be the greatest but keep at it and you should pull through. Also listen to the steps carefully and don't be afraid to improvise should something come up.
I had a lot of fun with this and should start off by saying that I was unable to finsih the last two princples of animation. For solid drawing I would have done something involving and whitebaord and made a random character to create the illusion of 3 dimensional space. For appeal I would have started off with the regular bionicle and slowly built it up in increase its appeal from a monotone figure to a massive, multi armed alien or something like that. The hardest animation to create was for slow in and slow out. The final result for that one was not my greatest and could have simulated running and speeding up a bit better. If I did it again would have used a long wind up time and less frams to simulate the bionicle speeding up better. The easiest for me was the timing principle. I was fun, not becasue it was easy but the movement was the closest I got to a more fluid real life depiction of an aquatic creature. The less amount of frames when it sped up made it easier to twist and contort the body without worry of its movement goign the wrong way. Overall, stop motion is tedious and at times frustrating, but so worth it when the end result works out. The end aniamtion really gives you a sense of satisfaction, accomplishment and that you didnt just waste an hour animating a for nothing. For this reason I love animation.
For this I digital painting based on the animated movie, Kubo. In the movie there are twin aunts of the main character attempt to kill him for his eye. While the twins were defeated, I saw potential in them coming back for a next installment of Kubo. Before getting into detail, I'd like to say I had many ideas for a new villain for the movie. The sketches range from and un-dead sorcerer, and tormented tree creature, and the Japanese demon known as the oni. One thing about a few of them was the incorporation of the twin aunts noh masks which shattered into pieces when they died. I went from the idea of a mad amalgamation of the twins to having a more twisted form after they "revived." I took those ideas and made them into two more defined sketches and then a final sketch. The digital painting was a full color piece of Kubo's new nemesis, The Priestess. The story behind it is that a new monastery is built in Kubo's village dedicated to helping people with struggles in their lives. It is actually something much more sinister, run by a mysterious priestess. The priestess herself is made up of dozens of black vine like tendrils concealed under her robes and patchwork mask (The mask is the remains of the aunt's noh mask). Kubo must then find a way to defeat the priestess and expose her false Overall, I had a lot of fun with this and love to do some animation with this character.
My first ever attempt at creating something in Sculpt. Obviously not the best work but I hope to improve. Goal for improvement would be to create more human and beautiful works as well as go further down the road of abominations like this one. Yes he is upside down.
The thing I found most difficult about the project was making the pieces structurally sound. The holes had to be place in certain areas or they would otherwise break if put under pressure. While this means I can't line them up evenly I does keep it from breaking easily. What I found most successful about the piece the aesthetic appeal it has. It appears like a necklace of shells strung together (It is unfortunately not strung together) or stones. It really has an appeal of improvised accessory. The piece happens to be the title of my favorite short story online (complements to the rightful author). I decided that it would be the best choice as I already had a key chain for The Walking Dead and this was the next in line. I wanted each one to be unique so, since The Walking Dead is just a generic one, I wanted to make this one have it's own look and appeal.
